Everyone should have access to food no matter their situation and everyday Australians shouldn't have to go without. ABC Radio is joining with Foodbank in the ABC Gives appeal to help provide food and grocery relief for people in need.
This year food insecurity in Australia has reached a critical point. Over half of low-income households in ACT have faced food insecurity in 2024, and this has been worsening since the cost-of-living crisis began.
“The rise in cost of living has meant that everything has gone up dramatically, however, my pay has stayed the same. I have not been able to afford most things… I feel like I’ve failed as a parent because we are really struggling.”

- Over half of food insecure households in the ACT (54%) have someone in paid work.
