Right now, there are Australian households who are going hungry. And many of them are families just like yours. ABC Radio is joining with Foodbank in the ABC Gives appeal to help put food on the table of those in need in our community.
The price of essentials like food, housing, power and fuel has climbed so much in the last year that people who were already struggling are now susceptible to sudden bill shock and financial disadvantage.
The current economic climate has meant demand has increased alarmingly.

How you can help
Every $1 donated by you is 2 meals created. That's right, your donation buys the healthy food to make these meals and Foodbank delivers it - it's genuinely that simple.
Where your money goes
Every 1.5 seconds, Foodbank provides a meal to someone in need. In Victoria, Foodbank provides food and grocery relief to 500 front-line charities and over 1,015 schools to help feed 69,000 Victorians in need - every day of the year.
- $35 will help buy veggies, fruit, pasta, rice and pantry essentials to make hearty dinners for a family.
- $60 will help stock pantries and fridges with nutritious, wholesome food.
- $120 will help purchase fresh produce to fill the veggies and fruit baskets in Foodbank’s Farms to Families market trucks
“Without Foodbank, I couldn’t eat every day. More than that, knowing I can visit their market makes me leave my house and connect with people. Otherwise, I would feel much more alone.”
– Yohannes, metropolitan Melbourne

FAQs
What is Foodbank?
Foodbank is the largest hunger relief charity in Australia, providing food and groceries to charities and school breakfast programs in every state and territory. They’re here for the everyday Australians who are going without.
Why has the ABC chosen this charity at this time?
As cost-of-living pressures mount, and with more pressure than ever on charities, the ABC engaged in a robust process to ensure our ABC Gives activity can make the biggest possible impact for Australians in need.
Why does Foodbank need your help?
Every little bit counts as Foodbank needs truckloads of meals to support every person who needs our help. That’s people in your suburb, in your community and in our schools. People who never needed help before the cost-of-living crisis hit are now struggling to feed themselves and their families.
Are my donations tax deductible?
Cash donations above $2 are tax deductible in Australia. You will receive a receipt from Foodbank by email.
How can I make a donation?
