Text reads: ABC Gives Hope. A rainbow on a red background with the ABC Radio logo.

Right now, there are Australian households who are going hungry, and many of them are families just like yours. ABC Radio is joining with Foodbank in the ABC Gives appeal to help put food on the table of those in need in our local community.

The price of essentials like food, housing, power and fuel has climbed so much in the last year that people who were already struggling are now susceptible to sudden bill shock and financial disadvantage.

The current economic climate has meant demand has increased alarmingly.

Give hope to your community by donating now.

The power of your support

It’s not just traditionally vulnerable groups seeking food relief:

  • 31% of all food insecure households are mortgage holders.
  • 35% of households in the Northern Territory struggled to put food on their table last year.

Where your money goes

Last year Foodbank Northern Territory provided 367,450 meals in Alice Springs, this year with a new Foodbank hub in Palmerston, your support will Give hope to more families in need than ever before.

How you can practically help:

  • $46   – Supply a hamper to a family in need
  • $180 – Will help feed a family for a month
  • $270 – Will help feed a person for 6 months
  • $540 – Will help feed a family for 3 months

"It's been a real struggle, trying to keep up with the rising costs of everything. Last year we were going to the pantry once a fortnight, but this year it's once a week."

– Rebecca, regional mum.

FAQs

What is Foodbank?

Foodbank is the largest hunger relief charity in Australia, providing food and groceries to charities and school breakfast programs in every state and territory. They're here for the everyday Australians who are going without.

Why has the ABC chosen this charity at this time?

As cost-of-living pressures mount, and with more pressure than ever on charities, the ABC engaged in a robust process to ensure our ABC Gives activity can make the biggest possible impact for Australians in need.

Why does Foodbank need your help?

Every little bit counts as Foodbank needs truckloads of meals to support every person who needs our help. That's people in your suburb, in your community and in our schools. People who never needed help before the cost-of-living crisis hit are now struggling to feed themselves and their families.

Are my donations tax deductible?

Cash donations above $2 are tax deductible in Australia. You will receive a receipt from Foodbank by email.

How can I make a donation?

Click here to be taken to the donation portal on Foodbank's website.  The ABC cannot accept donations directly, so you will need to donate to Foodbank.
