Victoria's Department of Education revealed the number of children restrained at schools has increased from under 1,000 in 2020 to more than 2,600 in 2023.
Deputy CEO at Disability Advocacy Network Australia, El Gibbs joined ABC Radio Melbourne to respond to the statistics.
She said restrictive practices can mean anything, from stopping a pupil from running across a road to holding a child down.
