Tasmania produces five times the amount of food the local population eats

A lot of it is ready at this time of year like fresh berries, salmon, milk, and vegetables.

And it becomes a bit of a scramble trying to get it off the island on one of three boat routes,  not to mention fit it alongside all the tourists at peak season.

This summer, not only will the new Spirits still not be here, but one of the Sea road boats will be out of action.

Harvest Moon's Mark Kable says the shipping situation is so bad, producers are holding back on what they could do to increase their business.
