Mara Mahoney hit her "rock bottom", using drugs and alcohol to ease the harshness of what she was facing in her daily life. Deciding that she wanted better for herself Mara returned to her family and accessed professional help.
Since doing this work she has transformed her life and today she is working on her dream - promoting Pacific literature, writing poetry and using knowledge to weave her way through the world.
