Program: The posthumous memoir of Alexei Navalny

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

In Patriot, Alexei Navalny describes his Soviet childhood, political awakening, family, and his commitment to tackle corruption in Putin’s regime.

He began writing his memoir while recovering from his 2020 poisoning by the Russian security service; it ends with his prison diaries.

Arkady Ostrovsky travelled with Navalny on that fateful flight to Russia before Navalny was imprisoned.

He says that the book's insights into Navalny’s preparation for death and martyrdom are deeply profound.

  • Guest: Arkady Ostrovsky, Russia editor for The Economist.
  •  Patriot By Alexei Navalny,  Translated by Arch Tait and Stephen Dalziel, published in Australia by Penguin Random House
